The field where this wine comes from is not like most fields - Riesling, Gewürztraminer, Pinot Gris and Muscat vines are planted between each other. Here it is not – as is usually the case – the grapes that determine when it is time to harvest – but the soil, which i.a. consists of limestone and marl. The field faces due south, which means that there is a warm microclimate, but with fairly constant heat and high humidity. As there are several different grapes, and all are vinified together, you never quite know which expression the wine will end up with - and this can vary greatly from year to year. Julien Shall, who is behind this wine, has conjured up a full and delicious wine with the warmth of 2015, which has lots of Power - with notes of honey and ripe stone fruits, as well as a slightly spicy note. Acid plays perfectly with the "fat" notes from the fruits.
